material world

In this series of works, I have photographed urban landscapes in the material world. As I wander the streets of different cities, the observation that begins to emerge is how much people have become hostages of their desires, chasing not after needs but wants, accumulating superficial appearances in a consumerist society. Just as Narcissus becomes engrossed in the reflection of himself, people seem to enjoy being fed with fantasies that validate what they already like about themselves, and some even seem willing to exchange their reality for illusions. I have therefore used deformed reflections from mirrors or shop windows to embody the twisted desires that have not only captivated but captured much of humankind, and to illustrate a material world brimming with hallucination.
